Kalemburoj aux Poezio / Puns or Poetry

I always liked Dire Straits' tune Sultans of Swing, but for many years I've been disappointed the musical elements described in the lyrics were not present in the song. A while back I got the opportunity to learn how to arrange my own version. I've made about six major revisions, and there are still some kinks to iron out, but I finally got a decent read-thru of my arrangement. Behold my vision for this great song:

La unua animacia filmo en Esperanto	The first animated film in Esperanto
Finfine animacio ekestas parto de la Esperanta kino!	At long last animation is part of the Esperanto cinema!
Ĉapeloj, la unua animacia filmo en Esperanto, estas tradicie desegnita sur papero. Kvankam gxi ne havas parolitan dialogon, la sxercoj (videblaj vortludoj) estas eblaj nur per Esperanto. Bonvolu spekti jene:	Ĉapeloj, the first animated film in Esperanto, is traditionally drawn on paper. Although it has no spoken dialogue, the jokes (visible puns) are possible only through Esperanto. Neĝuloj, mia dua 'filmo', estas animaciita per la softvaro Adobe Flash. Gxi estas iom malpli longa, sed enhavas iom da dialogo. Auxskultantoj de E-radio versxajne rekonos la vocxojn. Jen tio:	Neĝuloj, my second 'film', was animated in Adobe Flash. It's a little shorter, but has a bit of dialogue. Listeners of Esperanto radio will probably recognize the voices. Behold:

Funebro	Grief
Mia fratino forpasis antaux kelkaj monatoj. Estis tro malfacile dauxrigi la studprogramon do mi oficiale petis pauxzon.	My sister passed away a couple months ago. It was too difficult to continue with school after that, so I officially took a leave of absence.
Mi estas hejme jam perskaux monaton, sed restas homoj neauxdintaj la novajxon. Mi klopodas elkracxi la klarigon kiel eble plej rapide, sed estas malfacile. Cxiun fojon, kiam mi sciigas homon, mi sentas ke mi disdonas funebron kaj rezulte estas malpli da felicxo en la mondo. Foje mi ne ecx konfesas la veron sed permesas ke oni dauxre kredu ke mi nur vizitas dum festo.	I've been back home for nearly a month, and I still run into people who haven't heard. I try to get through the explanation as quickly as possible, but it's still difficult. Every time I share the news it feels like I'm spreading the grief around and there's a little less happiness in the world as a result. Sometimes I just let people think I'm just visiting on holiday or something.

Estis malagrable malvarme kaj vente, sed la suno brilis. Mi luktis kontraux mi mem (mi ja estas mia plej malbona malamiko) en mia matena animacia klaso, sed dum mia posttagmeza klaso pri korpodesegnado (kiu kutime defiegigas min), mi ne tute malsukcesis.	It was bitterly cold and windy today, but the sun was shining. I was a hinderence to myself (I truly am my own worst enemy) in my morning animation class, but in Life Drawing this afternoon (which usually kicks my ass), I wasn't entirely disgusted with what I was doing. So I guess it was an okay day.

Encouraging

Mi travivis plian semajnon sub kunpremaj sufokaj nubacxoj. Sed la vivo donis al mi premion tian, ke post kiam mia dua vendreda kurso finigxis, la suno brilis. Mi entrinkis la sunradiojn cxe la plagxo kaj sentis min denove trankvila. Kiam mi revenis apartamenten, mi trovis pli ol dek du posxtkartoj de E-istoj kiuj volis kuragxigi min kaj esprimi sian subtenon de miaj filmoj. Jen bonega fino de defia semajno.

I made it through another week beneath crushing, suffocating clouds of doom. But I was rewarded with sunshine after my last Friday class ended. I drank it in at the beach and felt tranquil again. When I returned to the apartment, I found more than a dozen postcards from Esperantists sending their encouragement and expressing their support for my films. That was a wonderful end to a challenging week.

Griza	Grey
Cxi-semajne estis kvar sinsekvaj sunplenaj tagoj! Mi pasigis miajn ripozojn per promenado cxe la plagxo, sorbante sunradiojn. Tiom gxojiga tio estis! Nun denove estas grize kaj malseke.	We had four sunny days in a row this week! I spent my lunches and afternoons walking along the beach just soaking it up. How good it made me feel! Now it's grey and wet again.

Facebook
Do mi konsideris krei konton cxe Facebook. Tamen mi nun havas dubojn post kiam mi legis tion kion oni konsentu antaux ol rajti uzi gxin ( http://www.facebook.com/terms.php ):	So I was considering setting up a Facebook account. But then I read the user agreement (at http://www.facebook.com/terms.php ) and have re-read what plenty of people have been upset about:

Sxajne Facebook rajtas uzi cxion kion uzantoj afisxas cxe la retejo iel ajn. Do kial diable mi kreus konton?	It would seem that Facebook has to right to use everthing you post in any way they please. So why the hell would I create an account there?

Jam estas marto	It's already March
Nu, mi travivis la unuan sesonon da mia studprogramo. Ofte mi sentis ke estis tro da informo por eniri mian cerbon. Sed versxajne mi ja lernas pli, kompare al mia mezuro. Cxi-programere mi klopodu trovi ekvilibron inter mia mensa sano kaj miaj limdatoj. Mi suferis kelkajn acxegajn frenezigxojn kaj prefere mi evitu tion ekde nun. Do mi memoru ke estas meza punkto inter nulo kaj perfekto neatingebla.	Well, I survived the first sixth of my program. A lot of the time I feel as if there is just too much information to absorb. But I'm probably learning more than I can tell. This term, I should endeavor to find a balance between my mental health and the deadlines. I had a few really atrocious days and I'd like to avoid freaking out like that from now on. So I should remember that there's a middle ground between zero and unattainable perfection.
Unu el miaj plej defiaj kursoj estas desegnado de la homa formo. Komence mi frustrigxis en tiu kurso. Sed fine mi akceptis ke mi studos tutan jaron en tiu kurso kaj tio ne estu sufero. One of my most challenging classes is Life Drawing. At first I got really frustrated in the class. But eventually I accepted the fact that I'll be taking it for a whole year and it doesn't need to be agony. Not everyone gets the hang of everything right away. I need to be patient before I go judging my progress. Paradoxically, after I stopped hoping for good drawings, they started to become a little less bad.

Kvankam mi vivis gxis la nuna jaro en Koloradio, kie negxtabulado kaj skiado estas tre popularaj, mi neniam negxtabulis nek skiis gxis mi atingis Kanadon. Mi falis ofte, foje falegis, kaj dum unu vojo timegis gliti preter klifo. Tamen mi gxuis la sperton kaj ecx iom sukcesis (se nur cxe la moneto por komencantoj).	Last Sunday I decided to go on holiday instead of struggling with homework for the whole weekend. So I accepted an invitation to go snowboarding with Aaron and Charlene. Although I'd lived in Colorado all my life, where snowboarding and skiing are quite popular, I'd never done either until I came to Canada. I fell a lot, sometimes hard, and during one run, I was terrified of going off a cliff. But I enjoyed the experience and even had some success (if only on the beginner's hill).

Posxtkartoj	Postcards
Miaj kutimaj legantoj jam scias ke mia revo estas fari animaciajn filmojn en Esperanto. Tiucele mi nun studas klasikan (2-dimensian) animacion cxe la Vankuvera Filma Studejo. La programo estas tre defia kaj helpus min iom da kuragxigo, aparte de Esperantistoj. Mi volas povi montri al miaj kunstudantoj (kaj instruistoj) ke ja ekzistas spektontaro de tiaj filmoj. Tial mi nun petas ke samideanoj sendu posxtkarton al la jena adreso:	My regular readers already know that my dream is to make animated films in Esperanto. To that aim, I am now studying classical (2D) animation at Vancouver Film School. The program is very challenging and it would help me to have some encouragement, especially from Esperantists. Trankvilo	Tranquility
Mi travivis tre malfacilan semajnon. Hieraux mia frustrigxo pri defiacxa hejmtasko igxis kolerego nekontrolebla. Mi fugxis el la lernejo kaj marsxis tra arbaro dum horo kaj duono. Mi estis iom pli trankvila tiam, sed ne tute. Subite mi pasxis en cxevalan fekajxon kaj tuj komencis ridi. "Jen la fino de la fekajxo kiun jxetis al mi la Sorto," mi pensis. Laux mia opinio, la tago ne povus igxi pli terura ekde tiam! Kaj post alia horo kaj duono da marsxado hejmen mi finfine povis spiri sen suferi venenajn pensojn. Mi estis tro lacega por pensi. Kaj jen venis profunda penso iom proverbeca:	I've made it through a really hard week. Yesterday my frustration with an effing hard assignment grew to uncontrolable depths of rage. I fled from the school and walked through the forest for an hour and a half. At that point I was a bit more calm, but not entirely. Suddenly I stepped into some horse shit and couldn't help but laugh. I thought that had to be the end of the shit Fate had been dealing me. My day couldn't get any worse after that! And after another hour and a half walk back home, I could finally breathe, free of my poisonous thoughts. I was too exhausted to think. And then came a deep thought, a little like a proverb, which I'm afraid I can't express nearly as poignantly in English:
El korpa laco kreskas mensa paco.	From bodily exhaustion grows mental peace.
